Daniel A. Carrasco, MD
Daniel A. Carrasco, M.D. is an experienced New York City trained, board-certified dermatologist. Dr. Carrasco was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas where he attended St. Mary’s University, graduating with honors in biology. A graduate of the University of Texas Medical School at Houston, Dr. Carrasco completed an internship in Internal Medicine in Houston, TX.
Following his internship, Dr. Carrasco accepted a position as a dermatopharmacology clinical fellow at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He was then recruited to complete a fellowship in New York City at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine where he supervised the clinical trials unit at Mount Sinai’s Department of Dermatology.
Dr. Carrasco went on to complete his residency training in dermatology at the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital. During his fellowships and residency, he was a co-investigator in over 50 clinical trials. Also during this time period, Dr. Carrasco presented 12 posters at the American Academy of Dermatology, published over 25 scientific manuscripts in medical journals and wrote three book chapters. In his second year of residency, he was awarded a Resident Educational Award by the Dermatology Foundation, and, consequently, was appointed chief resident during his senior year of training.
In 2005, Dr. Carrasco moved back to Houston and started a private practice with Dr. Stephen K. Tyring where he practiced medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology. In 2007, Dr. Carrasco was nominated and chosen by the American Dermatological Association to be the Young Leadership Award Speaker. He was honored by the ADA at their August 2007 annual meeting. Less than a year later, in 2008, Dr. Carrasco was chosen to be a member of the American Academy of Dermatology’s Leadership Forum.
In 2008, Dr. Carrasco decided to make Austin his permanent home. He specializes in general medical, cosmetic, and surgical dermatology.
When he is not working, Dr. Carrasco enjoys spending time with his wife, Alejandra, and little daughter Camila. He also enjoys hunting, traveling, horseback riding, polo, photography, and boating.
