Lumenis ResurFX

Lumenis ResurFX in Austin, TXWith thousands of new rejuvenating and healing procedures available on the market today, it’s a bit tough to make a choice. Let’s take a quick look at the ResurFX technology created by Lumenis – one of the world leaders in medical laser technologies.

What is ResurFx?

“ResurFX uses non-ablative, fractional laser technology to improve the appearance of your skin without damaging its surface,” a licensed medical aesthetician and certified laser technician at Sanova Dermatology in San Antonio, Texas. A special instrument generates heat and promotes collagen production, which in turn causes the skin to tighten and appear healthy while removing irregularities.

Fractional lasers deliver heat through numerous tiny deep columns, also called microthermal treatment zones. Part of the surface stays unaffected. This approach allows the skin to heal faster than it would if the entire area was treated. As a result, the recovery period is shorter.

What is ResurFx for?

ResurFX by Lumenis can be used to improve or remove:

“To achieve top results, several fractional laser treatment sessions could be required,” assures Smith.

What ResurFX Feel Like?

Since ResurFX is a non-ablative procedure, it’s not too painful. However, the dermatologist will apply a topic anesthetic to ensure the utter comfort of the patient. A stream of cool air can be used to refresh the skin.

The duration of the procedure depends on the size of the treated area. The minimum time is about 15 minutes.

What is the Recovery Period?

The recovery period after the ResurFX procedure is minimal. You can return to work right after the procedure. Even though the skin will appear red, it’s possible to cover it with makeup. “The redness will disappear after a couple of days,” notes Smith. It’s important to keep the affected area well-moisturized and avoid exposing it to the sun.

How Many Procedures do I Need?

In some cases, a series of treatments is more effective than one or two. Depending on the problem and the desired result, a dermatologist can give individual recommendations. Usually, three to four treatments are sufficient.
