3 Ways Matrix CO2 Fractional Laser Treatment Can Help Your Skin

June 23rd, 2025 | By: Admin

Matrix CO2 Fractional Laser Treatment uses a grid pattern of thousands of small pulses of laser to remove years of sun and age damaged skin. “The laser works like aerating a yard, vaporizing many small ‘plugs’ of skin deep into the dermis, removing the old, damaged skin, and stimulating the development of healthy new collagen,” shares Dr. Jeffrey Poole, a board-certified dermatologist at Poole Dermatology (a Sanova Dermatology practice) in Metairie, Louisiana. Since the surrounding skin is spared, healing time is reduced to a few days, and risks are minimized.  Here are some of the ways a fractional laser treatment could help your skin.

1: Removes Wrinkles and Other Signs of Aging

The process of gently vaporizing the outer layers of skin helps reduces signs of visible aging such as wrinkles, fine lines, stretch marks, and age spots. “The result is a return to a brighter, more youthful complexion,” emphasized Dr. Poole.

2: Helps Stimulate New Collagen Formation

By eliminating old, damaged collagen, Fractional Laser treatments work on the superficial and mid-layers of the skin to stimulate the production of new collagen. This results in skin that is younger-looking, more vibrant, and shows fewer signs of age. New collagen also helps with reducing any imperfections in the skin such as scars or enlarged pores.

3: Treats a Variety of Conditions

Fractional Laser Treatment can be used on patients with a variety of skin conditions they want to address. “The treatment is effective on crow’s feet, loose skin, smile lines, frown lines, wrinkles, surgical and acne scarring, and can even be used to help adjust poor skin texture or an uneven skin tone,” explains Dr. Poole.

The treatment is considered safe and effective for almost any skin type except in dark skin of color. There is minimal downtime and discomfort with the majority of patients feeling as though they have a mild sunburn in treated areas. Most patients need only 1-3 sessions to reach their desired results.
