Mamina Turegano, MD is a triple board-certified dermatologist, internist, and dermatopathologist serving patients at Sanova Dermatology in Metairie. She specializes in medical dermatology, integrative dermatology, acne treatment, psoriasis management, autoimmune skin diseases, and complex inflammatory skin conditions.
Dr. Turegano graduated summa cum laude from Centenary College before earning her medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine. She completed a five-year combined residency in internal medicine and dermatology, serving as chief resident at Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center. She later pursued advanced fellowship training in dermatopathology at UCLA before returning home to Louisiana to continue serving her community.
With a strong foundation in internal medicine, Dr. Turegano takes a comprehensive, whole-body approach to skin health. She integrates evidence-based dermatology with lifestyle medicine, focusing on how nutrition, sleep, stress, the microbiome, and environmental factors influence inflammation, aging, and chronic skin conditions. She holds a certificate in integrative dermatology and works closely with patients to develop personalized treatment plans for concerns ranging from acne and warts to psoriasis and autoimmune skin disorders.
Dr. Turegano’s research and writing have been published in leading peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, JAMA Dermatology, Pediatric Dermatology, and Journal of Cutaneous Pathology. She is also a co-author of The Holistic Psoriasis Management & Nutrition Guide and has contributed to dermatology textbooks on cosmeceuticals and acne care.
Recognized as a trusted voice in skin health, Dr. Turegano frequently shares science-backed skincare education through media appearances and digital platforms. Outside the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two sons, playing piano, collecting vinyl records, practicing Pilates, and staying current with the latest wellness research.
