BB vs CC Creams for Skin Care: Which is Best For You?

June 23rd, 2025 | By: Admin

The beauty industry is constantly growing and coming up with new products. One of the latest trends to surface are BB and CC creams. Of course, discovering both leads to a natural question: Are BB or CC creams better for my skin care regimen?

Beauty Balm

Beauty balm, or BB cream, is a multitasker by design. It functions as a moisturizer, primer, sunscreen, skin treatment (anti-aging), concealer, and foundation in one. Developed by a German dermatologist, this product was created to be used after a laser treatment in order to help protect the skin and provide coverage.

Color Correcting

Color Correcting or CC creams are very similar to BB creams. “The main difference is, as the name suggests, this product is meant to help primarily with pigmentation and discoloration,” explains Dr. Miriam Hanson, board certified Dermatologist and cosmetic expert in Austin, Texas. It adds light-diffusing particles, which helps to make your skin lighter and brighter while simultaneously correcting the tone. Sometimes, CC creams will even have collagen boosters which can help make your skin look better as well.

How Can They Help?

Crucially, both products contain moisturizer and sunscreen. “If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a thousand times, hydrated skin can play a large role in combating early aging,” notes Amy Bowen, medical aesthetician at Sanova Dermatology. Meanwhile, sunscreen is vital not only to your skin’s overall health, but also to help prevent wrinkles and early signs of aging due to unprotected sun exposure.

“Both are also great options for individuals who don’t like to wear makeup, but want to help even out their complexion and add a nice finish,” Dr. Hanson shares. They allow you to help improve the overall look of your skin without having to perform separate steps of moisturizing, priming, sunscreen, and of course foundation.

Of course, it’s important to note that you won’t get the same coverage as if you were using a traditional foundation. That said, either one of these products will improve the overall look of your skin without taking a lot of time to apply.
