Common Questions About PRP & Microneedling

June 23rd, 2025 | By: Admin

Considering PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) with microneedling like this microneedling in Green Bay, WI? You probably have questions so here are some of the most common questions we hear and their answers.

Is PRP with Microneedling safe? Yes, prp injections with microneedling have been used on thousands of patients worldwide. “Because it uses your own blood components, no severe adverse reactions have been reported,” explains Emily Rodrigues, licensed medical aesthetician at Sanova Dermatology Austin, Texas. It is a safe and effective procedure performed in the office.

Will PRP with Microneedling hurt? The treatment is minimally invasive and generally painless. A numbing cream is applied to your skin before the procedure which can minimize any discomfort, and you will also be awake throughout the procedure.

What is the recovery time after the procedure? Your skin will usually look a little flushed and feel like you have been in the sun too long immediately after the procedure. “Most patients completely recover and enjoy the effects of the treatment within 24 to 72 hours after the procedure,” says Rodrigues. If you plan to be outside, you will want to use sunscreen and a hat during the recovery time to protect your skin during healing.

Are there any side effects? Because the procedure uses your own blood components applied in a controlled clinical environment, the risk of side effects is very low. You might experience some swelling, tightness or minimal bleeding from the pinpoint wounds created by microneedling. During healing, you may experience some dryness or flaking of the skin.

What is the risk of infection? The wounds created by microneedling are very small and close quickly. Risk of infection is very low.

How many treatments are needed to see results? “Most patients require one to three treatments before they begin to see results, within four to six treatments you will see improvements in acne, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and stretch marks,” Rodrigues states.

How long will the effects of the treatment last? Everyone responds differently to the treatment. Some patients see effects sooner than others and likewise the effects last longer in some patients than in others. While not permanent, the procedure does offer long-lasting and natural results.
