Many of our patients who seek a more defined jawline, or to get rid of the appearance of jowls, are surprised to find out there is a non-surgical way to achieve the look they desire. Using BOTOX® Cosmetic, Dysport®, or Xeomin® injections, Dr. Adam Mamelak and Dr. Miriam Hanson are able to help patients refine the appearance of their jaws without the need for surgery. Using these cosmetic injectables to enhance the look of the jawline is also part of a related procedure called the Nefertiti neck lift. To address loose or sagging skin along the lower portion of the face, we use these products to help relax the platysma muscle along the neck, which can pull on the skin along your jawline, ultimately creating jowls. These injectable solutions work to temporarily stop the platysma muscle from contracting, and therefore release the downward pull on the lower face, which should give a lift to the jowls and reduce their appearance.
We have seen both male and female patients seeking this treatment, but there are some unique differences with their needs. Due to different levels of facial muscles and skin thickness, the amount of product needed will vary in order to achieve the desired outcome – larger muscles respond to larger doses.
