How soon can Laser be done after Dysport, BOTOX® or Xeomin?

June 23rd, 2025 | By: Admin

Cosmetic laser treatments have revolutionized the dermatology and skin care industry by offering the ability to treat a variety of skin concerns including sun damage, acne, rosacea, dark spots, broken capillaries, and more. Many patients opt to treat their skin with both laser and injectables to bring back a refreshed and youthful appearance.

Dysport, BOTOX®, and Xeomin are all Botulinum derived proteins, which temporarily weakens or paralyzes muscles to smooth and eliminate wrinkles on the face. These toxins, combined with lasers, can do “double duty” by treating hyperpigmentation and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Laser treatments and injectables that relax the muscles, such as Dysport, BOTOX®, and Xeomin can be combined for full facial rejuvenation,” explains Dr. Miriam Hanson, a board certified Dermatologist and cosmetic expert at Sanova Dermatology. “However, patients are advised wait one to two weeks for the full effect of the Botulinum toxin to kick in before doing the laser treatment.”  If laser is performed too early, it can interfere with the injectable potentially leading to undesirable results.

Similarly, when a patient gets a laser treatment, it is in their best interest to wait before getting their wrinkles and dynamic rhytides treated. Many doctors will recommend waiting one to two weeks between treatments to allow for recovery and for any swelling or peeling to subside.

As always, make sure to discuss treatments with one of our expert dermatologists to get the recommendation that best aligns with you and your skin care goals. Remember, not every laser should be used with every skin type or condition.
