Microneedling for Acne Scars in Texas & Louisiana

At Sanova Dermatology, we pride ourselves on delivering top-tier skin care through a combination of experience, education, and advanced technology. Our team of highly experienced physicians are dedicated to providing microneedling treatment for acne scars. We have convenient locations across Texas, including Houston, Pflugerville, Austin, Bee Cave, and Dripping Springs. We also serve Louisiana with locations in Metairie, Old Metairie, Uptown New Orleans and Baton Rouge.

Acne is extremely common, especially amongst adolescents and young adults. With inflammatory acne lesions, or if you tend to pick at your blemishes and bumps, scars can be created in the skin. Some acne scar can be permanent, but thankfully, a number of new treatments have been developed specifically to address these marks. Micro-needling, the revolutionary treatment that uses the body’s own natural healing mechanisms, has proven its ability to minimize and potentially remove these unwanted marks from the face and skin.

How Will Micro-Needling Help My Acne Scars?

Micro-needling employs ultra thin, high-gauge medical grade needles to induce microscopic perforations the skin. This technique directly stimulates the skin’s collagen to rebuild itself. By “damaging” the affected area, micro-needling literally breaks up scar tissue and induces the skin to regenerate with a smoother appearance.

Similar to other resurfacing and laser acne scar treatments, such as the Sublative laser procedure, entire face treatments are traditionally performed with micro-needling to ensure that the results are balanced and even. Treatments are typically performed in a series, and patients should begin to notice a difference in the texture and tone of their skin after the second session. It is important to remember  that response from the treatment can take time, as many can be discouraged after not seeing immediate results. Four to six treatments are often recommended to achieve optimal results.

Patient also need to remember that different types of acne scars respond differently, some may be very deep and may require a combination of treatments for best results. The doctors of Sanova Dermatology take a holistic approach to acne scar treatment combining skin care, chemical peels and resurfacing treatments. The first step is often to ensure a patient’s acne is well controlled and breakouts are minimal. Then the skin is monitored to ensure that additional scarring does not take place if new breakouts occur.
