Dermal fillers are used to restore volume, smooth folds and fill hollows in the skin that develop over time. Previously known as Perlane, Restylane Lyft is back with a new FDA approval and is ideally suited for midface rejuvenation.
Similar to other Dermal Fillers, Restylane Lyft was created to offer a more full appearance to the face. “With age the cheeks can be one of the first areas that begins to lose volume,” says Dr. Miriam Hanson, a board certified Dermatologist and cosmetic skin expert at Sanova Dermatology in Austin, Texas. This loss of volume can lead to hollows in the skin, sagging, not to mention wrinkles. “By restoring the volume in the cheeks, we can create a more youthful appearance and counteract the lines that are created due to sagging skin,” Dr. Hanson continues.
With the recent FDA approval for Resylane Lyft treatment in the cheeks and midface, there are now published studies that can prove how effective this hyaluronic acid dermal filler can be. “Studies have shown that 73% of patients are still seeing results from their treatments after 12 months ,” Dr. Hanson states. This marks the first time that a dermal filler has been FDA approved for both nasolabial folds and midface rejuvenation.
Dermal fillers can range in thickness dependent on where they are going to be utilized. “Restylane lyft is a more robust hyaluronic acid filler, so it can be used in areas that require more volume restoration,” Dr. Hanson explains. These areas include the nasolabial folds and cheeks. “A heavier product like this would not be suited for the lips, for example. You would get a much more natural look with products like Restylane Silk or Juvederm Ultra.” Fillers also pair well with Botox, Dysport and Xeomin, as they both work to soften the face and smooth fine lines, folds and wrinkles.
