Pulse Dye Laser Offers Hope for Treatment of Hard-to-Remove Warts

June 23rd, 2025 | By: Admin

Do you suffer from warts that have resisted traditional wart removal treatments? Are you looking for a safe, effective, permanent wart removal procedure? If so, you should be aware that certain lasers can be to effectively remove warts from the skin.

Pulse dye laser wart removal works by using powerful laser energy to destroy the small blood vessels that feed the wart. “This method can provide hope for patients suffering from a wide range of warts that are hard to treat with more traditional therapies, such as liquid nitrogen, salicylic acid or chemical agents,” explains Dr. Kellie Reed, a board certified Dermatologist at Sanova Dermatology in Austin, Texas.

The procedure is very simple and can be safely used to treat warts on your hands, feet, or other body areas.

First, your dermatologist may lightly abrade, or remove, the very upper layers of skin, or epidermis, of the wart. This is to make the small blood vessels within the dermis, or next level of skin, more accessible to the laser energy. “The V Beam Perfecta laser is fired in a series of pulses that target and destroy the fine blood vessels in the dermis that feed the wart,” says Dr. Reed. This deprives the wart of oxygen and nutrients it needs to survive but does not cause any harm to nearby tissues.

Numbing medicine is often applied or administered prior to the procedure, to ensure absolute comfort. “Patients say it each pulse feels like the skin is being hit by a rubber band, followed by a mild burning sensation,” Dr. Reed shares.  A series of treatments three or four weeks apart is usually needed to completely destroy the wart.
