How to Reduce the Appearance of Acne Scars

June 23rd, 2025 | By: Admin

Blemishes can leave behind visible scars on the face and body that can have a lasting effect on your confidence. Fortunately, acne scar reduction techniques from our state-of-the-art practice can reduce the appearance of these marks and help you achieve smoother, softer, and younger-looking skin. During your initial consultation, Dr. Adam J. Mamelak and Dr. Miriam L. Hanson, our board certified dermatologists, will customize an advanced treatment plan based on your individual needs and goals.

There are many different approaches that can be utilized to address your scars, and the treatment or combination of treatments used will depend on the types of scars you have. Some techniques involve removing or filling the indentations left by scars. These include dermal fillers, subcision, and mini excision. Other modalities seek to resurface the top layers of skin via abrasion, such as laser skin resurfacing. Some methods, such as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and chemical peels, encourage cell turnover to help smooth and soften the skin.

Acne that is still in the process of healing can be easier to treat than an established scar, but we have options to address these marks regardless of their age. We will discuss the details of your treatment plan with you during the first appointment. We may also suggest at-home skin care techniques and products to optimize your results.
