Which Areas of the Face Can Botox Be Injected?

June 23rd, 2025 | By: Admin

Worry lines, elevens, crows feet, we’ve heard it all. But if you are thinking about having Botox injections, you may ask yourself, which areas of the face can Botox be injected? “Botox has been FDA approved to be used on several areas of the face,” says Dr. Miriam Hanson, board certified dermatologist and cosmetic expert in Austin, Texas, “but is becoming more popular in other areas as well.”

How Botox Works

First of all, you have to understand how Botox works. “Botox relaxes the tense muscles that are responsible for creating the fine lines and wrinkles in your face,” explains Emily Johnston, certified physician assistant at Sanova Dermatology. “Basically, Botox injections interrupts the communication from the nerves to the muscles, allowing them to fully relax.” It’s important to note that if you have wrinkles caused by sun damage or simply gravity, Botox will not be an effective method of treatment.

Where Botox Works Best

When you are considering a Botox injection for the face like this facelift in Atlanta, GA, there are several areas in which this treatment is particularly effective. “Botox has been proven to help reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and crow’s feet around the eyes,” says Emily.  These are the areas in which Botox has been proven time and time again to be the most effective.

However, Botox can be used in other parts of the face as well. If you have a cleft or dimple in your chin, and are self conscious about it, Botox is a great alternative to allow those muscles to relax. It can also be injected around the lips to help with smile lines and sagging. “I’ve used Botox to help with bunny lines on the nose, smokers lines around the lips, gummy smiles, nasal flaring, to define the jawline, even to lift down turned corners of the mouth,” says Dr. Hanson.

Dr. Hanson does caution that the anatomy in some of these areas is quite intricate. “You should always rely on a skilled medical professional to guide you through what is possible, and treatments they are confident about.”
