Why Chemical Peels Are Ideal For Fall & Winter

June 23rd, 2025 | By: Admin

Your skin is one of your biggest assets. It’s the first thing people see when they look at you, and when you have glowing, healthy skin, not only will you look better, you will also feel better about yourself as well!

But your skin, which is also the largest organ of your body, requires tender loving care. Once in a while, bringing in a professional to do some touch-up procedures is also a good idea. As the weather cools and you prepare for holiday gatherings and a new year, it is time to consider giving your skin a little extra attention, perhaps by getting a chemical peel.

What is a Chemical Peel?

This procedure is used to improve the appearance of skin on your face, neck, and hands. A chemical solution (a mild acid) is applied to the exposed skin which causes it to exfoliate and later, peel off. The underlying layers that are exposed will be smoother, healthier and more radiant.

Chemical peels work their magic in several ways They accelerate skin cell turnover, lighten pigmentation and stimulate underlying collagen production.

Chemical peels are a favorite because they are quick and easy. It’s important to understand that you may experience some stinging when the peel is applied, followed by skin irritation and redness, which fades over time. There are different levels of chemical peels, from milder treatments called lunchtime peels to deeper peels that have more downtime. Mild peels are best for treating skin roughness or discoloration while deeper penetrating treatments are used to remove shallow scars or deeper lines and wrinkles.

Why do a Chemical Peel in the Fall or Winter?

Right after you undergo a chemical peel, your skin will be temporarily more sensitive to sunlight. That is why the best time to get a chemical peel is in the fall and winter months when the weather is cooler, days are shorter, and the sun is not so glaring and incessant.

And doing a chemical peel in the winter prepares your skin for the warmer months so that your recovery process is complete by the time you are ready to go out gardening or hit the beach.
