Downtime is typically not necessary after treatment with Dysport, and most patients are able to resume normal routines immediately. Some mild bruising, redness, and swelling may be present around the injection sites, but these effects should quickly dissipate.
Dysport is derived from clostridium botulinum. The solution works to temporarily stop muscles from contracting in the areas targeted for treatment, which can ultimately smooth out the appearance of wrinkles. Areas between the eyes and along the forehead have often shown very good results after treatment with Dysport; however, this procedure can be beneficial for signs of age appearing in many facial areas.
Dysport is precisely injected into the targeted areas with a very fine needle. A numbing agent is applied to minimize discomfort during the injections, and most patients find it tolerable.
The entire procedure usually takes just minutes to complete, depending on the size and number of treatment areas.
The results of Dysport typically last between three to six months, and can be maintained for much longer periods of time with an occasional “touch-up” treatment.
