What is microdermabrasion?

Things like dust, dirt, the sun's UVA and UVB rays, and environmental pollutants can cause the skin to become damaged over time, showing up as age spots, crow’s feet, acne scars, and various levels of pigmentation to the skin.

Microdermabrasion, a non-surgical treatment with minimal downtime, can help treat a variety of concerns, including:

  • Light scarring, including acne scars
  • Discoloration
  • Sun damage
  • Stretch marks

What to expect during microdermabrasion treatment?

Before the dermabrasion process begins, you will be given local anesthesia since the top layers of skin will be removed. This allows you to remain comfortable as your dermatologist begins the procedure.

Once this has taken effect, a special dermatological device will be slowly guided around your face to remove the skin by abrasion. Your doctor will choose from various sizes of diamond-studded tips to match the size of the area being treated.

Treatment sessions take 30-45 minutes, and most patients find the sensation highly tolerable.

Those who want to address early signs of aging, whether you’re dealing with signs of sun damage on the neck and chest, or scars on your feet, our machines can help restore your healthiest skin. It’s gentle enough for sensitive types, but it is also extremely effective.

The number of treatment sessions needed will depend on your unique goals. Your provider will recommend a certain number of treatments during your consultation.

Microdermabrasion is not covered by health insurance, as it is considered an elective cosmetic procedure. The average treatment will run the patient somewhere between $75 – $150 per treatment.

Healing will depend on how large and deep your treatment area is. In general, it takes about 7-10 days to complete the healing process, during which time the skin will regrow. For the first several weeks, your skin may be sensitive and appear pink, but this gradually fades as the skin returns to its natural pigment.
