What is miraDry?

miraDry is an innovative non-surgical procedure designed to resolve excessive underarm sweating (known medically as underarm hyperhidrosis). It's a non-invasive procedure that can actually eliminate the sweat glands that are the root of this problem.

What to expect during miraDry?

The miraDry procedure uses electromagnetic energy to heat, and ultimately eliminate, underarm sweat glands. After administering a local anesthetic, your dermatologist will guide a hand piece over the treatment area.

To maximize your comfort, miraDry also uses a cooling system, and the treatment is typically completed within one hour. miraDry can effectively treat hyperhidrosis in patients of all skin colors, providing a permanent solution to unwanted underarm sweat.

Oftentimes, the results from your miraDry treatment will be immediate, and you will no longer perspire from the armpits.

Yes. While the body does use sweat to moderate and maintain its temperature, underarm sweat glands comprise only 2% of all perspiration glands and eliminating them should not negatively impact your health.

miraDry is an outpatient procedure, and most patients return to their normal daily lives immediately after their treatment. We recommend patients avoid certain physical activities in the days immediately following treatment, and will review post-procedural instructions in detail during the consultation process. Some patients will experience mild swelling or bruising after their procedure, though these side effects typically resolve within days to weeks.
